Websites
To follow up
last month's ELM Bulletin on Useful Utilities (click
here to read it) this month we would
like to share with you links to some of our
favourite web sites (for both business and
pleasure). Of course this is not an exhaustive
listing of our favourites but they are certainly
the most often visited of our favourite
websites. We hope that you enjoy them as much as
we do.
Astronomy Picture Of The Day - If
you are interested at all in Astronomy then this
is the website for you. Each day Astronomy
Picture Of The Day displays a new picture of
astronomical interest and provides a brief
explanation on what makes the picture so
interesting.

Astronomy Picture Of The Day.
Digital Camera Resource Page - If
you are planning to get a new digital camera you
should check out this website. The Digital
Camera Resource Page reviews almost every
digital camera available and provides sample
images, feedback and comparisons between similar
models.
Digital Camera Resource Page.
Freeware Home - The Internet's
premier collection of free software, Freeware
Home provides links to free software of almost
any description. All software is listed by
category and are confirmed by the Freeware
Home's webmaster(s) to be both free of cost and
free of malicious software.

Freeware Home.
Hoax-Slayer - If you've ever
wondered if the email warning you about the
dangerous virus that no anti-virus program can
remove is true or not here comes Hoax-Slayer to
the rescue. As a categorized collection of many
of the real and bogus warning that each of us
has received Hoax-Slayer is a valuable resource
for when you're not quite sure whether you're in
trouble or not.

here to visit Hoax-Slayer.
PC
World - Sister magazine to PC
Magazine, the PC World website offers a host of
information on computers and computing as well
as detailed reviews on almost any imaginable
product having anything to do with computing.
World.
Symantec Security Response - Not
only does Symantec provide one of the world's
best anti-virus solutions, it also makes
available its vast virus and malware knowledge
base to help you deal with those that have
infected your system. (Many other anti-virus
software providers have similar resources
available at their own websites which we
recommend you use as well since viruses and
spyware are rarely given the same name by all
vendors.)

Symantec Security Response.
The
Online Books Page - The Online
Books Page is a collection of links to free book
sites on the Internet. It is categorized both by
author and by subject matter and claims to list
every free book that exists. Not having the time
to verify their claim, I simply browse and
download my favourites. If you can read a book
on a computer this is the place to go to find
them.

Online Books Page.
Wikipedia - For finding information
on a multitude of topics there are very few
websites more fun than Wikipedia. Many a happy
(lunch) hour has flown by while browsing through
links related to an initial query. Some have
criticized Wikipedia for its inaccuracies but
when used with common sense it can provide hours
of pleasure and reams of useful information.

Wikipedia.
As always, please
contact me if you have any questions about this
or any other computer
issue.
