ELM Bulletin - October 15, 2009
A Quick Email Tip
I send many emails each week; to the point that I’ve sometimes had trouble keeping track of which emails need follow up and which don’t. In this ELM Bulletin I share with you my, recently discovered, secret for staying on top of in-process email.
All of my email is sorted by client. This makes it easy to keep track of what I’ve done for each client. With our growing client list (thanks to all of you who recommend ELM) this sorting method makes it more difficult to track in-process email.
Recently, I have begun storing all in-process email temporarily in its own separate folder. Here I can quickly find any recent email for any client without wasting time searching all my client folders and wondering if I sent the email after all.
I store in-process email in this folder until the work they relate to is complete; then I use my email rules to sort the email into the appropriate client folder for archiving.
This tip may not work for you but it sure has helped me to do my job more efficiently.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about this or any other issue.
Past issues of the ELM Bulletin are available from our website, feel free to forward them to anyone you wish.
